AMI is delighted to celebrate Habitat for Humanity’s milestone, as they reach 30 years of building homes and hope in New Zealand.
For three decades, Habitat has built new homes for families in rent-to-buy models, made critical repairs to existing family homes, brought people together to be the heart of change in their communities, and ultimately supported thousands of families to thrive in life through housing.
Since the first nail was hit back in 1993, they’ve achieved some great outcomes for New Zealand communities across the country. Here are just some of the achievements that make us feel proud to be in partnership with Habitat:

For families struggling to address the challenges associated with keeping a home warm, dry, healthy and safe, Habitat is there to offer a hand-up in a variety of ways.
Since partnering with Habitat almost 3 years ago, AMI has had the opportunity to volunteer and support the work they do for communities across Aotearoa. To date, we have had over 280 staff members provide over 1600 volunteer hours. The volunteering opportunities include supporting the Habitat ReStore network, working on the home repair programme, supporting the curtain bank, packing winter warmers, or crafting wooden pallets for the pallet project.
At AMI, we know that safe and stable homes help to build strong and healthy families, as well as more resilient communities. That’s why we want to support Habitat to continue their journey in creating safer, warmer, and more accessible homes well into the future.
