Frequently asked questions

How can I register for My AMI?

To get a My AMI online account, click the Register button in the top-right corner of our website and complete the registration questions.

Once submitted, you'll receive an email with a verification code. You’ll need to enter this code to register your My AMI online account before you can log in.

Please note

Only active car, boat, home, contents or landlord policies can be used to register for an online account. At the moment, policies registered under a company name or trust names aren't eligible for an online account.

What do I do if I have forgotten my password?

You can reset your password online by following these steps:

  1. Click the "forgot password" link that is available on the login screen.
  2. Enter your the email address you used when you registered for your online account, and click the "send" button; you will receive an email shortly.
  3. Open the 'forgot password' email, and click the "reset password" button.
  4. Enter your new "password" and "confirm password". Click the update password button to save your new password.
  5. Log in to your online account with the new password.

What should I do if I can't see my policies in my online account?

Currently only car, boat, home, contents or landlord policies can be displayed online. If you have one of these policies under your individual name or as a couple and you can’t see it, don’t worry, it’s likely that we just haven’t added it to your online account yet.

If your policy is not displayed, you can submit a ‘Missing policy request’ using the link on the Dashboard.

Once we receive the missing policy information from you, we’ll add your policy to your online account. Please allow five working days for this to be completed.

Why should I switch to email?

Receiving your insurance documents by email is:

  • convenient – receive your policy documents anywhere, anytime,
  • simple - organise, file and view your policy information in a way that suits you with your My AMI online account or your inbox,
  • secure - receive your insurance policy information straight to your inbox in a PDF document,
  • environmentally friendly – you’ll be doing your bit to reduce paper.

Once you've made the switch to email, insurance documents for any eligible policies will be emailed to you. It's easy to switch, just log in to My AMI, your online account, and update your preferences.

What will be included in my renewal email?

Your renewal email will include all the information you would normally receive by post, with a downloadable PDF attached . You’ll receive your cover letter, premium advice, policy schedule and other information that forms your insurance contract with us.

Which policies and documents will continue to be sent by post?

Not all policies are able to be emailed, so you may still receive some documents by post. Examples of these are:

  • Farm and lifestyle policy renewals
  • Cancellation letters
  • Some claims communications
  • AMI Roadside Rescue packs

Can I switch my preferences around any time?

Yes, you can set your preferences for each policy to email or post anytime by logging in to My AMI, your online account.

Email is our preferred way of sending documents – it's faster, more secure, and better for the environment.
