If you lose or damage the original manufacturers charger or charging cable that came with your vehicle, we’ll replace it.

Child car seat protection
If your EV is stolen or in an accident and your child’s car seat is damaged or stolen, we’ll replace it with a new one.

Yes, we do. We generally cover standard-spec electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles with our existing car insurance policies (e.g. Toyota Prius, Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Ioniq, Mitsubishi Outlander and Tesla).
The price of car insurance is calculated based on a number of factors, such as the vehicle year of manufacture, make and model, location and driver profile. However, there is currently no rating differentiation based purely on fuel type.
No, there is no difference in cover for EVs and petrol cars. With AMI Comprehensive Car Insurance you get the same benefits, so your EV, hybrid or PHEV would be covered for accidental loss or damage, fire, theft, and any other optional extras you purchase with your cover.
Yes, we offer AMI Roadside Rescue for both electric vehicles and petrol/diesel. We will tow your vehicle to the nearest charging unit.

If you choose to install a charging station in your home, it wouldn’t be covered under your car insurance. However, it is covered under an AMI Home Plus Insurance policy, if permanently wired in by an electrician.
It depends. AMI doesn't cover loss or damage to your EV battery which is due to mechanical, electronic or electrical issues or those arising from general wear and tear or gradual deterioration. If you've taken out our Comprehensive Car Insurance, you’re covered if your vehicle suffers sudden and accidental mechanical, electrical or electronic loss caused by:
Your policy doesn't cover you for a mechanical or electrical breakdown (unless caused by one of the events listed above).
For example:
Your EV’s battery is damaged due to a collision – this is covered.
Your EV’s battery is damaged due to wear and tear – this is not covered.
There is also limited cover for EV batteries under Third Party, Fire and Theft policies.
Yes, we do. AMI treats electric motorcycles the same as equivalent petrol-powered motorbikes and these can be covered under our Motorcycle policy. With our Full Cover Motorcycle Insurance, your electric motorcycle would be covered for accidental loss or damage, fire, theft, and any other optional extras you purchase with your cover.
