AMI MotorHub Onehunga – harnessing the sun’s power

August 2024

In April, AMI MotorHub Onehunga was delighted about the opportunity to install 135 rooftop solar panels. Property landlord, PFI was more than happy to support this installation, which marks their fourth building to have installed solar panels in the past two years.

AMI MotorHub CEO, Gary Geeves, says that the Onehunga site is leading the way as their first site to install solar, which will not only reduce reliance on traditional energy sources, but also contribute towards a cleaner environment.

“This initiative aligns perfectly with our goal to reduce our carbon footprint across all aspects of our operations. Through innovative solutions like rooftop solar, we are demonstrating our dedication to reducing emissions while driving positive change for our customers, the planet and future generations in New Zealand.”

Considering solar?

Rooftop solar systems offer several benefits, making them an attractive option for businesses and homeowners alike. Some of the key advantages include;

Cost savings

According to the Electric Homes Technical Report1 produced by EECA in March 2024, fully electrified households with rooftop solar and an electric vehicle can save over $1000 a year compared to a home with gas and a petrol vehicle, when all costs are annualised. Those savings increase if you have used a low-interest green loan to install rooftop solar.

Reduced emissions

Installing solar will reduce your home’s emissions by using the power generated from your rooftop solar panels, rather than grid electricity which is typically 15%-20% non-renewable2. Further emissions reductions are also possible if you electrify your household appliances.

With those benefits in mind, it is worth considering your options. If you want to learn more then why not head to the Genless website for some expert resources and tips on installing this clean, low-cost energy source.

By embracing solar energy and investing in its continued development, we can all create a more sustainable and resilient future by harnessing the sun’s power.
